Kathleen Weich passed away on June 16th, 2011, and will be deeply missed.

Art comes from a place that is way deeper than words and ideas and things. It goes out to the same deep place in the viewer. The work itself is the point of contact, the spark that jumps between the poles. It yields a special kind of recognition and pleasure, but it does not submit to rational explication.

`My paintings are based on the abstract notions of landscape. Using a conceptual approach rather than representing a more traditional landscape, I am able to take more liberties with the subject matter, colour and paint. Taking from city and rural images whether imagined or real, I use different views as a tool for composition. This gives me the space to use colour.

I love colour and never tire of the possiblies it lends itself to. The emotion attached to colour is a major part of my work. It is always fascinating how we react to pure colour and combinations.

My aim is not to present a finalized view of a given subject. I hope to offer a place where you can contemplate and bring your own visions.`Kathleen Weich.
